Picnic pairing with my mom

The weather in Port Elizabeth has been strange lately and today’s weather was super sweet so my mom and I thought it’d be a perfect afternoon to pop out a picnic in our own front yard.

Flagstone Wines has recently teamed up with me and so I thought that today would be the perfect day to try out their wines and pair them with some cheeses.

Something I learned today:

– White wines match best with soft cheeses and stronger flavours
– Red wines match best with hard cheeses and milder flavours
– Fruity and sweet wines work with a wider range of cheeses
– The more pungent the cheese you choose, the sweeter the wine should be

The type of cheeses that work well with the wines I’m trying:

Chenin Blanc: Brie, Goats Milk, White Stilton with apricots or cranberries

Pinotage: Gouda, Parmesan and Cheddar

It was so lovely spending some quality time and laughing with my mom. We LOVED the wines and the cheeses that we paired together.

We started our picnic off with the Flagstone Bush Vine Chenin Blanc. We paired this wine with Camembert cheese on crackers with some strawberries on the side. Finally, we ended off with some Flagstone Pinotage and a mature cheddar cheese on crackers with some grapes. Zoe enjoyed the picnic just as much, because my mom was bribing her with biltong in order to pose for photos!

Local before image \ Becca Blair

Hello lovely friends,

I have been super busy this year and I have practically been MIA as I haven’t posted many blog posts this year. With much thought, I have started a new series of posts. This category will be in support of local businesses before image. By this I mean, I want to start supporting all the locally made products before buying these big brands/ international brands.

This has been on my heart for some time because not many people realize what beautiful clothing, beauty products, food products and handmade products are actually made here in our lovely country. So why not support these wonderful companies and build a name for them!

This is the first blog post for this series of blog posts. I received these two beautiful bags from Becca Blair before I left for Mauritius in July. These two handbags were so useful and trendy!

Becca Blair Handbags are Designed, manufactured in Durban, South Africa, and are available in Leather and Non-Leather. Their handbags are perfect for every individual. Start your collection today.

Below are some images that my sister took of me with my handbags in Mauritius.
